1.What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?

I got the “extraction fan -from-Hell” fully operational after having 3 people tell me it wasn´t fixable.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I didn´t make any and am not about to do so.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Yup! M and R had a baby boy.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

I´m glad to say no!

5. What countries did you visit?

I went to a SF-convention, does that count?

6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?

A workplace that PAYS me!!!

7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

The 18th of december, not so much because of my birthday, but because I watched the final episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer; which has been a considerate part of my life for the last seven years.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Getting over my paralising fear of taking exams and actually go and take them.

9. What was your biggest failure?

You mean “learning experience”? ;-)

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Besides this big trip which left me concussed for two weeks, nothing big.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My inline skates!

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

Mirjam, for being such a great person and wonderful neighbour all these years!

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

Let´s not go there! I can only say that if you think it might be you, you´re already too sensitive to ever be.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Exams, phonebills and clothes. In no particular order.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Seeing James Taylor live!

16. What song will always remind you of 2003?

“Summer´s here” by Magnus.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder?

Though it scares me to admit it: happier. Don´t tell anyone…

ii. thinner or fatter?

Thinner.

iii. richer or poorer?

Let´s see… Last year: no money. This year: absolutely no money. You do the math!

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Read Harry Potter, I wanted to read them all this year, I still haven´t read any.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Worry.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

I already did! Once! And twice!

21. Did you fall in love in 2003?

You mean besides Michael Stipe (= superstar, in steady relationship, doesn´t know me), Matthias Schoenaerts (= Belgian actor, never met him in real life, doesn´t know I exist) and Daan (= Belgian singer, DOES know me, always asks me: “You´re the girl from Lille, aren´t you?”)? Besides those, no.

23. How many one-night stands?

Get real! I´ve got misophobia!

24. What was your favourite TV program?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It gets old, I know…

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Not yet, but there are some recent additions to the nomination list!

26. What was the best book you read?

This book. I´m afraid it was also the only book that I read for the first time this year that wasn´t a coursebook, manual or cookbook…I did re-read a couple of books though.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Not a discovery, but I saw them for the first time live: R.E.M..

28. What did you want and get?

A tiny little garden.

29. What did you want and not get?

A Citroën DS!

30. What was your favourite film of this year?

Any way the wind blows.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

This is what I did. I turned 28.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably satisfying?

2) Having Matthias Schoenaerts fall madly in love with me or
3) Daan finally remembering I´m from Amsterdam.

Personal fashion concept?! I´m on unemployment benefits, you know!

Michael Stipe, hands down.

The stupidity of what is concieved as being “politics” nowadays.

Nobody was gone long enough to be missed.
